Parent Involvement
|
|
Alcuin School has developed a Parent Involvement Plan (PIP) to assure meaningful participation of parents in their children's education. Parents have the opportunity to participate in field trips, integrate school studies with home activities and attend school events throughout the year to get to know each other.
The PIP includes provisions for:
- Making early contact with the parents: Ice Cream Social, Parent Night and a first-week conference call.
- Keeping parents up-to-date with school affairs and their child's education: online parent page, portfolios, online photo album and parent conferences.
- Informing parents of the "what", "how" and "why" of their child's education: Parent Night, parent conferences, Parent Handbook and Education Plan.
- Encouraging parent communication: parent conferences, email and annual parent surveys.
- Providing opportunities for meaningful involvement: volunteering, field trip planning.
- Providing social events for families: field trips, Ice Cream Social, Beach Party, Queen Anne Halloween, Welcome Back Breakfast, etc.
- Providing parent services: early morning opening, early morning parent-teacher conferences and Parent Night Out.
